The design, construction and full fit-out of a new flagship Big Yellow Self Storage facility at Staples Corner, delivering a prominent six-storey building providing high-quality self-storage accommodation alongside flexible-use office space. The project represents a major investment for Big Yellow, strengthening its presence at one of London’s key strategic locations.

Glencar’s scope includes the full delivery of the new 190,000 sq ft facility following demolition of the existing car showroom by others. Works commence with extensive cut and fill operations to achieve new levels, alongside the installation of all below-ground drainage and services. Ground improvement works will be undertaken using Controlled Modulus Columns (CMCs) to support both the foundations and ground floor slab. The superstructure will comprise a steel frame with full façade cladding and curtain walling, enabling the building to achieve watertightness ahead of internal works. A comprehensive internal steel mezzanine structure, full services installation and complete fit-out will then be delivered.

The project is being delivered over a 70-week programme and requires detailed coordination to manage technical ground conditions and phased construction activities. Sustainability is a key driver, with the scheme targeting a BREEAM Outstanding rating, reflecting Big Yellow’s commitment to high environmental performance.

On completion in June 2026, the development will provide a modern, highly efficient self-storage facility that supports Big Yellow’s long-term growth strategy and sets a new benchmark for sustainable storage developments.
