The things that make us do more

Glencar is committed to creating social value through our business operations. We believe that by creating social value, we can help to build stronger, more resilient communities, and contribute to a sustainable future.

Employment & Skills

At Glencar, our employment practices reflect our commitment to delivering meaningful social value directly within the communities we serve while we are on site. We prioritise the recruitment and training of local talent, fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce that benefits the areas where we operate.

One of the key ways we deliver social value is by creating job opportunities for local people, including those who are furthest from the workforce. During our projects, we collaborate with local employment agencies and community organisations to identify candidates from underserved areas and provide them with tailored training and support to help them succeed.

We are also passionate about opening doors for people of all ages and backgrounds. Through apprenticeships and work experience placements, we offer young people, career changers, and those re-entering the workforce invaluable opportunities to gain hands-on experience and develop the skills needed to build successful careers in the construction industry.

By embedding these practices into our on-site operations, we ensure that our projects leave a positive and lasting impact on the communities where we operate.

Procurement

We prioritise working with local suppliers and subcontractors, actively seeking out partners who share our commitment to sustainability, social responsibility, and inclusive practices.

By focusing on local procurement, we create economic opportunities for small businesses, including those in underserved areas, and support the growth and development of local communities. We work closely with suppliers and subcontractors to understand their capabilities and identify opportunities for meaningful collaboration.

Our approach goes beyond location – we prioritise working with diverse suppliers and businesses that align with our values, ensuring that our procurement practices deliver positive social and environmental impact.

We believe that responsible and inclusive procurement helps build a more sustainable, resilient supply chain, benefiting not only our projects but the wider construction industry.

Community engagement

At Glencar, community engagement and consultation are central to the successful delivery of our projects. During the delivery stage, we work closely with local stakeholders to understand their needs, priorities, and aspirations.

By building positive relationships with the local community, we ensure our projects are designed and delivered in ways that genuinely benefit the people and places we serve.

Charity and Fundraising

Giving back to the community is an essential aspect of our social responsibility. We are committed to supporting charitable causes and fundraising efforts, and we encourage our employees to get involved in charitable activities that are important to them through our charity, the Glencar Foundation.

We have a dedicated team that organises events and initiatives to support a range of charitable causes. These include sponsored runs and cycles, charity auctions, and other fundraising events. We also support our employees in their own fundraising efforts.

We also support a range of charitable causes through donations and partnerships. We work closely with a number of charities and community organizations to provide support and assistance to those in need. This includes donations of time, resources, and expertise, as well as financial contributions.

The Glencar Foundation is a Micro-Trust of Giving Works | Charity Number 1078770

“Our commitment to communities goes beyond the construction of buildings. We are passionate about creating lasting impact, supporting local businesses, and create job opportunities for local people. We deliver projects that not only meet our customers’ needs but also benefit people across the UK.”
