About This Project

Project Overview
Glencar was appointed to deliver a 62,000 sq ft purpose-built distribution facility for Bidfood, one of the UK’s leading foodservice wholesalers. Strategically located at Worcester Six Business Park with direct connectivity to Junction 6 of the M5, the scheme was designed to meet the strict operational, hygiene and environmental standards required for food-grade logistics.

Completed in April 2025, the development combines CAT A and CAT B works to provide a fully operational, temperature-controlled environment, further strengthening Glencar’s presence in the food and beverage logistics sector.

Glencar’s Role
Operating under a Design & Build contract, Glencar managed the project from shell and core delivery through to full internal fit-out, coordinating specialist refrigeration installations and ensuring compliance with demanding food safety and performance standards.

Scope of Works
Warehouse & Temperature-Controlled Zones
Construction of a 50,000 sq ft warehouse incorporating temperature-controlled zones to accommodate chilled and cold storage operations.

Office & Transport Facilities
Delivery of a 9,000 sq ft two-storey main office and a 3,000 sq ft transport pod, providing high-quality operational and administrative space.

CAT A & CAT B Phases
The CAT A phase comprised the structural shell, utilities, drainage and enabling works.
The CAT B phase delivered full warehouse fit-out, cold storage and refrigeration systems, alongside a high-specification office interior.

External Works
Completion of all associated site infrastructure, servicing, drainage and landscaping to provide a fully operational logistics facility.

Sustainability & ESG
The building has been designed to support efficient temperature control and long-term operational performance, with careful integration of building fabric and specialist M&E systems to optimise energy performance while maintaining strict food-grade standards.

Technical & Delivery Challenges
Delivering a temperature-controlled distribution hub required detailed coordination of insulated envelopes, refrigeration plant and building services integration. Maintaining programme certainty across two distinct delivery phases while meeting compliance requirements was critical to success.

The Outcome
The completed facility provides Bidfood with a high-performance, future-ready distribution hub that enhances national distribution capability and supports continued growth within the foodservice sector.
