Glencar Appointed by Panattoni for Major New Logistics Development

A 184,560 sq ft state-of-the-art logistics facility in Essex, Panattoni Park Braintree is designed to deliver best-in-class operational performance
Glencar has announced its appointment as the main contractor for the delivery of Panattoni Park Braintree, the extension of existing Horizon 120 Business Park, a major new logistics facility in Braintree, Essex being developed by Panattoni, the largest logistics property developer in Europe.
The scheme will involve the construction of a single, high-specification building comprising 171,915 sq ft of warehouse space and 12,645 sq ft of Grade A office accommodation. Designed with a clear internal height of 12.5 metres to haunch, the facility will be delivered to Category A fit-out standard and is set to achieve both EPC A+ and BREEAM Excellent ratings.
The construction programme will begin with full groundworks, including a topsoil strip with re-use of suitable material, ground stabilisation to 200kPa, and traditional pad foundations. The development has been designed to prioritise environmental performance and will target net zero in construction.
Key sustainability features include:
- Use of Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) steel to reduce embodied carbon
- Installation of Photovoltaic (PV) solar panels
- Comprehensive EV charging infrastructure
- Low-energy lighting systems
- Efficient MEP installations
- Integration of low-carbon technologies where feasible
