About This Project

Project Overview
The Park Grand Hotel project involved the removal and replacement of the existing external façade to improve fire safety and compliance at the operational hotel in Hounslow. Surveys confirmed the presence of combustible ACM cladding and the absence of cavity barriers within the existing wall construction. The works comprised phased removal of the façade back to the existing secondary SFS structure, followed by installation of a new A1-rated external wall system. The project was delivered within a live hospitality environment, requiring careful planning to maintain guest safety, access and hotel operations throughout the programme.

Project Requirements
The client required the remediation of the existing hotel façade to address fire safety concerns and achieve an A1-rated external envelope. Key objectives included removal of combustible materials, installation of compliant insulation and cavity barriers, and replacement with a non-combustible rainscreen system. The project needed to be delivered while the hotel remained operational, with minimal disruption to guests and staff. Phased delivery, safe access arrangements and strict control of interfaces with hotel operations were essential to the project’s success.

Glencar’s Role
Glencar was appointed as main contractor to deliver the façade remediation works, coordinating specialist subcontractors and managing the project through to completion and handover.

Technical & Delivery Challenges
The project was delivered within a fully operational hotel, requiring phased façade removal and replacement to maintain safety and minimise disruption. Surveys identified combustible ACM cladding and the absence of cavity barriers, necessitating careful removal and replacement sequencing. Working at height using cradles and scissor lifts introduced additional access and safety considerations.
