Delivering over 34,000 sq ft of new build sound stage, office, and workshop space.
Glencar has completed the transformation of Ealing Studios, delivering over 34,000 sq ft of new build sound stage, production office and workshop space.
The scheme has redefined the UK’s oldest continually operational film studio — established in 1902 — into a future-ready creative campus that combines architectural character with cutting-edge functionality for modern high-end production.
The completed works include:
- A new 14,000 sq ft piled steel-frame sound stage, built to world-leading acoustic standards.
- Two workshop buildings and over 34,000 sq ft of light-filled, fully fitted production offices.
- A striking Art Deco-inspired arrival hub and public-facing site reception.
- BREEAM Outstanding, EPC A+ certification and Net Zero carbon ready status in operation.
Technically complex delivery
Ealing Studios has hosted some of the UK’s most iconic productions — including The Theory of Everything, Downton Abbey, and the classic Ealing Comedies. Glencar’s delivery supports that legacy while enabling the next generation of global production.
The contractor managed the full fit-out and acoustic detailing within the new sound stage, including the installation of acoustically engineered services and high-performance finishes. The new white Ibstock brick façade was designed to complement the studio campus’s original Art Deco character.
Throughout the programme, Glencar worked closely with the Ealing Studios operations team to maintain live filming and ensure that existing site tenants remained unaffected.

Adaptive delivery and fast-track design
Glencar provided full design coordination across all stages of the programme — including bespoke acoustic wall and roof design — to meet demanding performance standards and enable smooth integration with Ealing’s existing site infrastructure.
The project also incorporated extensive sustainability measures, including solar PVs, air source heat pumps, low-carbon materials, modular construction techniques and urban greening features such as living walls and green roofs.
